Analysis: While Clooney won the high percentage of the critics awards, it is Jeff Bridges who will be the front runner for Oscar gold. The veteran actor has been nominated 4 times over the last 37 years, yet has never won. The time is now. Bridges took the Critics Choice, Golden Globe and SAG Awards. At this point he is a near lock. Also, Clooney most recently won for supporting actor in 2005's Syriana, which might still be in the voters minds. Renner is the dark horse here, where Freeman and Firth can feel satisfied with a nomination. Analysis: With Carey Mulligan somehow disappearing as the early front runner for this award, it is now between the first two listed: Streep vs. Bullock. Streep and Bullock each won The Critics' Choice and Golden Globe Awards. Streep has broken her own record with her 16th nomination. However, the legendary actress has not won since her fourth nomination back in 1982 for Sophie's Choice. At some point, they will reward her with her 3rd Oscar. Bullock was just fine in The Blind Side, but can she really stand in Meryl's way? I personally hope not, but with Bullock taking the SAG award and The Blind Side earning a Best Picture nomination, it seems she is the one to beat now.
